The Cathedral of Segovia stands majestically in the centre of the city. Destroyed during the War of the Communities, it was rebuilt in 1525. Three streets hold nightlife worth experiencing. The Plaza Mayor, Plaza Azoguejo and the Calle del Carmen have a scattering of cafes and bars that get hotter as the night grows darker.
Metz, France
Just 80 minutes from Paris by high-speed train, Metz features art galleries, such as the outlandish Centre Pampidou-Metz art museum, and off-beat history in the original French quarter around the central Saint-Stephen Cathedral. Visit the Ville Allemande which Germany decreed would be the final Germanification of this section of France in 1870. Metz also has more than a hundred historical buildings preserved by the French government.
Thessaloniki, Greece
Thessaloniki was chosen as one of the top ten party cities by Lonely Planet travel guides in 2010. Clubs and bars fill up after dark in the Safegeia section and the waterfront. Nikis Boulevard has a row of small clubs and bars with local flavour. If your taste runs more to museums, try the Archaeological Museum of Thessaloniki with its collection of artefacts from the Archaic, Classical, Hellenistic and Roman periods. The museum provides interpretations of the artefacts.
