Travelling by car offers comfort and safety which makes it ideal for holiday transport. It can also be a lot cheaper than using public transport, offering yet more benefits – but is it right for visiting the Balkans?

1. More freedom

The Balkans is located in South Eastern Europe. It offers some spectacular locations, some of which are best travelled to by car. Travelling by car in the Balkans will allow you to drive around cities and the countryside and popular destinations such as Belgrade are best discovered at your own pace.

2. Choose your own company

Travelling the Balkans by car means you can choose your company and could even organise an excellent road trip with friends. If you were to travel by bus or train you may end up stuck in a carriage with disruptive passengers – a thought none of us relish.

3. Make your trip more personal

If you are to travel by car then you can make the day trips personal. You do not have to rely on reps to show you around a destination as sometimes this option can limit what you’re able to see and enjoy.

4. Explore on your own

If you end up travelling in the Balkans you may end up getting lost. However this is all part of the adventure. Often when you get lost in your car you end up stumbling upon hidden treasures off the beaten track – the perfect way to explore this beautiful location.

5. Discover the coast

There are some great areas of coastline to be visit along the Balkan Peninsula and using a car gives you great access to different beaches.

6. Set your own itinerary

With no schedules to meet but your own, travelling by car means you can set your own itinerary and see everything you want in the order to want.  

7. Extend your trip

By using your own transport, you also have the added option of extending your trip should you wish too. This is far easier with a car than public transport as you can simply drive to your next location – wherever that may be.

8. Added security

By being responsible for your own transport, you also benefit from added security. You’re not reliant on public transport services which often encounter disruptions and benefit from the safety features which come as standard fittings on most modern cars too.

9. Affordable

With plenty of deals available on car travel, you don’t have to worry about costs either. It may be advisable to hire a car at your destination rather than taking your own vehicle and you’ll need to invest in car hire insurance for this. This is still an affordable option, however and there are plenty of insurance policies tailored towards this sort of travel.
